The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation (CSCF) is a regional nonprofit organization providing a variety of charitable funds and gift options, large and small, to help our philanthropic partners achieve their hopes for stronger, healthier communities. By bringing together donors, their advisors, and nonprofit agencies, CSCF is a powerful and active leader for building charitable giving and effecting positive change.

Serving Columbia, Lower-Luzerne, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union Counties, the funds managed by the Foundation are invested for the community’s benefit and then returned to the community in the form of grants for a wide variety of charitable purposes—from youth to education to health and wellness. In 2018, CSCF administered 266 funds, awarded over $2.8 million in grants to local nonprofit organizations, and distributed over $260,000 in scholarships to high school and college students.

The Foundation began in November 1998, as a result of the Berwick Hospital’s conversion to a for-profit institution. At first serving health and wellness initiatives in the hospital’s patient service area, a vision of expanding to a regional foundation began to grow. In 2003, the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation emerged as the philanthropic organization for the Central Susquehanna Valley. CSCF has continued to grow, and now serves as the umbrella organization for five geographic affiliate community foundations.

In November 2018, CSCF began the celebration of 20 years of philanthropy — 20 years of investing into the many wonderful communities that our Foundation represents, encompassing the goal of improving and enriching the lives of those we care most about. It is through the generosity of donors and organizations across the region that CSCF continues to champion causes “For Good, For Ever.”
